{"id":69421,"date":"2026-06-16T09:46:29","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T07:46:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mcrtecresa.com\/?p=69421"},"modified":"2026-06-16T10:58:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T08:58:00","slug":"mcr-tecresas-passive-fire-protection-solutions-have-recently-been-implemented-at-coral-energys-refinery-facility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mcrtecresa.com\/en\/blog\/mcr-tecresas-passive-fire-protection-solutions-have-recently-been-implemented-at-coral-energys-refinery-facility","title":{"rendered":"mcr tecresa\u2019s\u00ae passive fire protection solutions have recently been implemented at Coral Energy\u2019s refinery facility."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"40\">For this project, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/tcp-protect\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"color: #008000\">TCP<\/span> PROTECT Greece<\/span><\/a><\/strong> was responsible for <strong data-start=\"61\" data-end=\"138\">supplying the required<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mcrtecresa.com\/en\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">mcr<\/span> <span style=\"color: #e42313\">tecresa<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/span><\/strong><\/a> <strong data-start=\"61\" data-end=\"138\">fire protection systems and materials<\/strong>, while also providing <strong data-start=\"161\" data-end=\"222\">technical supervision throughout the installation process<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The installation works were successfully carried out by <strong data-start=\"280\" data-end=\"318\">ARP (Athenian Renovation Projects)<\/strong>, ensuring that <strong data-start=\"334\" data-end=\"470\">all fire protection measures were executed in accordance with the project specifications and the applicable fire safety requirements<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"473\" data-end=\"922\">The <strong data-start=\"477\" data-end=\"510\">main objective of the project<\/strong> was to <strong data-start=\"518\" data-end=\"581\">upgrade the fire safety performance of an existing building<\/strong> within the facility.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"473\" data-end=\"922\">One of the <strong data-start=\"614\" data-end=\"632\">key challenges<\/strong> was that the <strong data-start=\"646\" data-end=\"711\">entire roof-supporting structure consisted of timber elements<\/strong>, which required a <strong data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"766\">passive fire protection solution<\/strong> capable of improving the <strong data-start=\"792\" data-end=\"811\">fire resistance<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"816\" data-end=\"852\">reaction-to-fire characteristics<\/strong> of the wooden components <strong data-start=\"878\" data-end=\"921\">without altering the existing structure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"1331\">In addition to the protection of the timber roof structure, several <strong data-start=\"992\" data-end=\"1062\">openings were identified along the perimeter walls of the building<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"1331\">These openings represented a <strong data-start=\"1093\" data-end=\"1136\">potential risk of fire and smoke spread<\/strong> between adjacent areas and therefore had to be <strong data-start=\"1184\" data-end=\"1203\">properly sealed<\/strong> to maintain the <strong data-start=\"1220\" data-end=\"1271\">integrity of the fire compartmentation strategy<\/strong> and ensure <strong data-start=\"1283\" data-end=\"1330\">adequate separation from the annex building<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1842\">To address the protection requirements of the timber structure, <strong>POLYLACK WOOD TRANSPARENT <\/strong>was applied directly onto the timber trusses.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1842\">This <strong data-start=\"1478\" data-end=\"1513\">transparent intumescent coating<\/strong> was selected for its ability to <strong data-start=\"1546\" data-end=\"1644\">significantly enhance the fire performance of the wood while preserving its natural appearance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1842\">In the event of a fire, the coating <strong data-start=\"1682\" data-end=\"1736\">reacts to heat by forming an insulating char layer<\/strong>, helping to <strong data-start=\"1749\" data-end=\"1777\">delay combustion effects<\/strong> and contributing to the <strong data-start=\"1802\" data-end=\"1841\">overall fire safety of the building<\/strong>.
